Istanbul

This is the view from my hotel room this morning.

How unique is the architecture here?

The Blue Mosque from a distance; this mosque was built in 17th century in only seven years!

Look at the size of this thing! Inside four giant pillars hold this massive structure up, each pillar is about 20 feet in diameter. The Ottomans built all this without all the technology we have today! How amazing!

The inside of the Blue Mosque is decorated with predominately blue tiles, a craft which started right here in Turkey, that is how it received its name.

The Hagia Sophia from a distance; Some consider this building to be the 8th wonder of the world! It was built in the 6th century, and is still standing today. For 1000 yeas, yes that is right 1000 years, the Hagia Sophia had the largest dome and it was the largest Mosque in the world!

This ordinary looking building is where the 2nd council of Nicene was held. Here early church christians discussed and approved some of the doctrines we believe in today, especially those concerning the Holy Spirit!

This amazing piece was located in the Istanbul archeological museum. This is Alexander the Great’s tomb!

From inside the Hagia Sophia.
